About PhRMA

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) represents the country’s leading innovative biopharmaceutical research companies, which are laser focused on developing innovative medicines that transform lives and create a healthier world. Together, we are fighting for solutions to ensure patients can access and afford medicines that prevent, treat and cure disease. Over the last decade, PhRMA member companies have invested more than $850 billion in the search for new treatments and cures, and they support nearly five million jobs in the United States.

On March 26, PhRMA Executive Vice President of Policy and Research Elizabeth Carpenter joined Voters for Cures champion Terry Uhl at Reuters Pharma USA 2024 for a fireside chat highlighting the role of prevention and biopharmaceutical treatments in combatting chronic diseases. During the keynote session, “Innovation Saves Lives: Champion Policies that Improve Patient Outcomes,” Terry shared his story as a colon cancer survivor, emphasizing the biopharmaceutical industry’s role in improving patient outcomes. Elizabeth discussed laws like the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and the Biden Administration’s march-in rights framework that jeopardize the future of innovation. She advocated for policies that allow R&D to flourish and that expand access to new medicines and treatments.

When:
