On May 11, PhRMA sponsored Live with The 19th: Prioritizing Mental Health, a virtual event hosted by The 19thand State of Mind, a project of Slate magazine and Arizona State University. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, participants discussed the mental health crisis in the United States, from personal, policy and practitioner lenses. PhRMA’s own Anne McDonald Pritchett, Ph.D. kicked off the conversation by acknowledging the undeniable impact of the pandemic on the mental health crisis, and highlighted the progress the biopharmaceutical industry has made in the mental health space. Following Dr. Pritchett’s remarks, guest speakers discussed topics ranging from therapy and grief to mental health policy.
