Many women struggle with symptoms of postpartum depression after giving birth, and many can suffer in silence. Despite being one of the most common medical conditions, PPD is underrecognized and underdiagnosed. Sage Therapeutics is working to fix that. The company, in collaboration with Biogen, developed the first-and-only oral treatment specifically indicated for adults with postpartum depression. Sage is also working to destigmatize the disease and increase access to treatment for patients.

In honor of Women’s Health Month, I sat down with Vanessa Procter, Senior Vice President of External Affairs at Sage, to discuss the importance of maternal mental health. Watch our conversation to learn more about treating PPD and how we can support this type of innovation.
