WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 21, 2023) – The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) today named Steve Tilton as senior vice president of federal advocacy. Tilton previously served as a vice president at PhRMA from both 2004 to 2010 and again from 2016 to 2019. He will succeed Anne Esposito when he joins the organization October 17.
“Steve is a seasoned leader who understands the role our industry plays in bringing treatments to patients," said PhRMA president and CEO Stephen J. Ubl. "He is a best-in-class advocate and will lead PhRMA’s efforts to push for patient affordability reforms and against threats to innovation.”
Tilton brings 25 years of experience from both the public and private sector and will oversee the organization’s federal advocacy team and Congressional outreach.
"The biopharmaceutical industry is at a unique and pivotal moment,” said Tilton. “The science has never been more promising, but the policy environment poses new challenges every day. I’m excited to lead this talented team and return to PhRMA at this critical time as we advocate for patients, cures and innovation.”
Tilton returns to PhRMA after spending the past several years as the Head of U.S. Government Affairs at Takeda, a PhRMA member. He previously worked at multiple lobbying and consulting firms, health care trade associations and a variety of government roles in Washington D.C.
