PhRMA Shares Condolences Upon the Death of Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

WASHINGTON, D.C. AND TOKYO (July 8, 2022) – The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) President and CEO Stephen J. Ubl released the following statement on the death of former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe:

“PhRMA shares our deepest condolences with the family of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and all the Japanese people. We are shocked and saddened by this senseless and tragic killing. Prime Minister Abe’s concern for the prosperity of Japan and the health of Japanese citizens was inspirational and will not be forgotten. His administration was instrumental in reforming Japan's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency and establishing the Agency for Medical Research and Development. The world and Japan is better because of his life’s work.”
