The Rise of the Superbugs – Tackling Antibiotic and Antimicrobial Resistance

On June 28, PhRMA sponsored Foreign Policy’s Global Health Forum, an event that brings together global health experts to discuss imminent public health trends and issues. PhRMA joined a panel on the growing issue of antimicrobial resistance titled The Rise of the Superbugs - Tackling Antibiotic and Antimicrobial Resistance. The panel, moderated by Good Trouble Production’s Founder Reena Ninan, brought together experts on the threat of AMR, including PhRMA’s own Lori M. Reilly. Panelists discussed the growing threat of AMR, while also emphasizing what is needed from the biopharmaceutical industry to combat AMR, such as the importance of investing in research and development, creating trackable AMR benchmarks, passing AMR focused legislation like the PASTEUR Act, and establishing strategic partnerships in the industry.
