PhRMA awards grant to Emerson Diversity Health Foundation

PhRMA has awarded a $140,000 grant to the Emerson Diversity Health Foundation as part of our commitment to addressing health inequities and enhancing clinical trial diversity.

The grant will support the one-of-a-kind TV show, Tu Salud Tu Familia, which features health education and outreach segments for the Hispanic community. Created by Dr. Fabian Sandoval, the program’s episodes educate audiences about medical conditions and medical research with expert voices across the health care ecosystem.

“Since we created Tu Salud Tu Familia in 2019, we have worked tirelessly to achieve our goal to improve health outcomes for the Hispanic community,” said Dr. Fabian Sandoval, CEO of the Emerson Diversity Health Foundation. “A key focus of our show is to raise the community’s understanding of and access to clinical trials. This grant will help us expand our reach of culturally competent information among Hispanics who have been historically underrepresented in research studies.”

PhRMA continues to lead efforts to address health equity and advocate for better health outcomes for diverse and underserved populations. Our focus is on driving progress in advancing clinical trial diversity, strengthening the diverse talent pipeline and improving health equity. This new grant is part of our efforts to work with community-based partners who are overcoming historical and systemic barriers to clinical trial participation.

Tu Salud Tu Familia has become a go-to resource for Hispanic communities to get critical health information. We are excited to support Dr. Sandoval’s work to bring trusted messengers and critical information about medical research to the Hispanic community.
