PhRMA Foundation Launches New Web Platform

For 50 years, the PhRMA Foundation has supported young scientists in their efforts to pursue careers in research and education that will ultimately lead to improved care and treatment options for patients. With our continued commitment to this goal in mind, I’m excited to announce the launch of the Foundation’s new web platform, www.phrmafoundation.org, which offers new resources on our competitive research grants and fellowships in the most challenging areas of drug discovery.

Last year, the Foundation provided more than $3.3 million to emerging researchers through the generous support of PhRMA’s member companies. The new web platform shares more than 170 research articles from past award recipients on complex topics such as Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular disease and cancer.

The platform also showcases emerging scientists like Dominique Comer, PharmD. who received a 2012 Post-Doctoral Fellow in Health Outcomes from the Foundation to study ways to optimize medication use from clinical, economic and political perspectives, and Jessica Rouge, Ph.D. who used her Foundation grant to dive deeper into the promising area of nanoscale drug delivery and development.

Later this year, we’ll be launching educational modules for health care professionals developed in partnership with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT). These resources will focus on topics such as safe and effective prescribing to help support continued improvements in patient care and treatment.

As the Foundation celebrates our golden anniversary and success in funding more than 2,200 young scientists, we renew our commitment to fostering the development of highly-trained, top-quality scientists to help meet the growing needs of the biopharmaceutical community and advance drug discovery.
