This week the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA) celebrates its 10th anniversary of connecting uninsured or underinsured Americans to programs that provide prescription medicines for free or nearly free. In the past decade, the program has connected nearly 9.5 million Americans to public and private assistance programs.
PhRMA member companies invest heavily in research and development to discover innovative new medicines to help patients live longer, healthier lives, and more productive lives. But developing these medicines is not enough if patients are unable to access them. Despite more Americans having insurance, barriers to accessing medicines still exist, underscoring the importance of PPA’s platform to educate and empower patients and caregivers to obtain information about their prescription assistance options.
To provide patients and caregivers with faster, easier access to information on public and private patient assistance programs, PhRMA member companies recently launched a redesigned website with new features and functionality. The new website also has information on how uninsured patients can access health care coverage along with interactive content on how to improve health for patients of all ages. The website also includes information on more than 100,000 free health care clinics throughout the United States.
